Barnes played eight seasons in the MLS with the New England Revolution after a stellar collegiate career at Duke University. His 9th year as a pro came with the New York Cosmos in the NASL. Following his retirement from professional soccer, Barnes joined the MLS league office in the partnership marketing department where he worked for over three years before joining Charlotte FC.
Tavares, a 41-year-old Portugal native, joins Crown Legacy FC after spending more than a decade at FC Porto, one of Europe’s top developers of talent. Tavares’ eye for talent and player development comes with an extensive background in Porto’s youth teams.
Mané, a native of Ovar, Portugal, spent the last seven years at FC Porto with recently named Crown Legacy FC Head Coach José Tavares. At Porto, Mané was the head coach at multiple age groups across the famed academy and was an assistant for the U-19’s during the last two seasons.
Sawchak, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, comes to the Queen City after serving as an assistant coach with USL League One side Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC during their inaugural season. Prior to his time in Colorado, Sawchak spent two seasons as an assistant coach with Chattanooga Red Wolves.
Edwards has been with Charlotte FC’s Academy goalkeeper program since 2020. Prior to CLTFC, Edwards served as Assistant Men’s Coach at UNCC, Assistant Soccer Coach at Hofstra University, and a role as Coaching Director with the Carolina Rapids.
