Charlotte, NC (Friday, June 2, 2023) – Crown Legacy FC forward Iuri Tavares was voted MLS NEXT Pro’s Player of the Month for May.
The Cape Verde International has been on an offensive tear as of late, netting three goals and earning an assist in May. Tavares is currently second in the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot race with six goals thus far.
“I am humbled and honored to earn MLS NEXT Pro’s Player of the Month for May,” said Iuri Tavares. “I could not have the success I have without my teammates and the coaching staff supporting me every step of the way. We will continue to work and complete the goals we set out to achieve.”
Tavares made an immediate impact once integrated into the squad, scoring a brace in his first ever appearance for the Club. The forward has also started every match he has been available during the first 11 games.
“Iuri is a great player that has fit in well to the culture we are building within Crown Legacy FC and Charlotte FC organization,” said Head Coach Jose Tavares. “This award is a reflection of his hard work and dedication on and off the pitch to be the best footballer and teammate he can be. We are humbled to have Iuri receive this honor and hope to build on our current success.”
This is the third honor that the Club has received this season with the Club being named April’s MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Month as well as forward Brandon Cambridge earning Player of the Matchday honors in week 2.
