Odunze will look to bring the Goalie Wars belt back to Charlotte for a second consecutive year

Charlotte, NC (Monday, July 15, 2024)- Crown Legacy FC Goalkeeper Chituru Odunze has been selected to participate in Goalie Wars during the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T on Tuesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio.

Odunze, 21, will face off against three other MLS NEXT Pro goalkeepers one-on-one in a single-elimination competition. During three 90 second rounds, each goalkeeper will defend his own net while also trying to score on his opponent by throwing, kicking or drop-kicking the ball.

The other three goalkeepers competing are Stas Lapkes (Columbus Crew 2), Jean Antoine (Chattanooga FC) and Michael Collodi (North Texas SC). The winner will take home a one-of-a-kind Goalie Wars Championship Belt.

Odunze has been vital to Crown Legacy FC’s success in the first half of the 2024 season. Odunze was acquired late in Crown Legacy’s 2023 season from Leicester City where he played in their U18 and U21 programs. Starting in ten matches so far, the 6’7” quad-national has recorded 32 saves and won two shootouts.

Crown Legacy FC currently sits seventh in the Eastern Conference with 26 points and a goal difference of +3.

CLFC goalkeeper and last year’s Goalie Wars champion Isaac Walker will be on-hand at this year’s event to help crown the next Goalie Wars champion along with other special guests.
