Charlotte, NC (Thursday, May 4, 2023) – Crown Legacy FC was voted MLS NEXT Pro’s Team of the Month for April.
CLFC has gone undefeated through the first six weeks of its inaugural season, posting a 5-0-1 record and 16 points which places the Club in first place in the Eastern Conference. The Club won all four of its matches in April, recording two clean sheets and only allowing two goals.
“We are pleased to be voted MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Month in our Club’s first few weeks of existence,” said Head Coach Jose Tavares. “Here at Crown Legacy FC, we are building a culture that helps our players showcase their talents and grow on and off the pitch. Our early results have required everyone in the organization contributing and believing in the same values to move in the same direction towards a common goal. We are grateful for the recognition and look to continue building off our current momentum.”
After drawing in its inaugural match with Huntsville City FC, Crown Legacy FC has gone on a five-match win streak while winning by a margin of two goals or more in three of those matches. CLFC is near the top of almost every statistical category so far this season, leading MLS NEXT Pro in goal differential while also placing second and third in goals and assists respectively. The Club has also seen contributions from a variety of players so far this season with nine different players finding the back of the net in the first six weeks.
This is the second honor that the Club has received this season with forward Brandon Cambridge earning Player of the Matchday honors in week 2 as well as midfielder David Poreba being nominated for Goal of the Matchday in week 4.
