CLFC wins first shootout of the season to earn two points at home
CHARLOTTE, NC (Sunday, March 24, 2024) - Crown Legacy FC took home two points in its first shootout victory of the 2024 season over Columbus Crew 2.
The match kicked off with Crew 2 going out to an early lead on a converted penalty. However, CLFC was able to bounce back quickly with midfielder Philip Mayaka and CLTFC Homegrown Nimfasha Berchimas finding the net to take the lead back. Columbus tied the match up again just before the half on a corner.
In the second half, Crown Legacy FC took the lead again when forward Jonathan Nyandjo laid off the ball to defender Nick Scardina for the easy finish. Columbus was able to equalize to force a shootout.
Goalkeeper Chituru Odunze made two saves in the shootout to earn the additional point for CLFC.
