Charlotte FC and founding partner Ally hosted a ceremonial first kick at Whitewater Academy on Tuesday, December 3 for the second mini pitch in collaboration with Ally this year.
Charlotte FC Greater Goals manager Katie Phillips and Executive Director of Corporate Citizenship at Ally Mike Rizer spoke to the media.
This latest pitch is the 14th one in the club’s Pitch for Progress initiative, and the sixth with Ally, where new pitches will be installed across Charlotte and the Carolinas. This new pitch will also be the second that Ally has collaborated on at a Greater Goals School.
During the Greater Goals season, more than 50 Whitewater Academy students participate in practices twice each week during both the fall and spring. Charlotte FC’s Greater Goals Program, of which Ally is the presenting sponsor, is an after-school soccer and literacy program with partnering Title 1 elementary schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and aims to teach participants soccer proficiency and the importance of literacy.
Previous Pitches for Progress installations where Ally has partnered with CLTFC, include Creative Player Foundation, The Pass in NoDa, Sailboat Bay Apartments, Camino Community Center and Idlewild Elementary School. Pitches for Progress was launched in 2021 to install mini pitches in neighborhoods and community spaces to provide a safe space for soccer.
