CHARLOTTE, NC (Sunday, January 16, 2022) – Charlotte FC today announced the Club has signed Adrián Zendejas to a contract through 2023 with an option for 2024.
Zendejas made 54 total appearances for Swope Park Rangers, Sporting KC’s USL Championship affiliate after joining the club in 2016. He made his SKC debut in the 2018 U.S. Open Cup, starting in victories over Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas and went on to make five total appearances.
“We’re excited to welcome Adrián to Charlotte FC to complete our goalkeeping group for 2022. He’s gained good experience playing in the USL Championship and has proven he can step in when called upon in MLS play,” said Sporting Director Zoran Krneta. “We wanted to provide goalkeeper coach Andy Quy with a strong, well-rounded group of four goalkeepers and this signing, along with the drafting of George Marks, will help provide that healthy competition as we start preseason this week.”
Zendejas has also spent time on MLS rosters at Nashville SC and Minnesota United FC. The latter loaned the California native to El Paso Locomotive FC of the USL Championship in 2021, where he immediately started three games and kept three clean sheets.
