Jaylin Lindsey: "It's going to be a really surreal moment"

CHARLOTTE – Charlotte FC defender Jaylin Lindsey, who started in season opener, reveals that despite losing the game against D.C. United that the team came out of it feeling positive and proud.

“We think that the result didn’t show, how the game actually went. I think we played really, really well and just got unlucky with some calls and their goals. I think we come off that game in a positive way.

“I think we came off that game knowing that we played well and that we fought no matter what the score was. Whether it was 1-0, 2-0, or even 3-0, we were still pushing to win the game. Which is always a great thing because it shows our fight and passion to win the game.”

But there isn’t any time to dwell on the previous match as the team has begun preparation for their inaugural home match this Saturday against one of the most iconic teams in MLS history, the L.A. Galaxy.

“What a way to open the home game, the first game at Bank of America Stadium. L.A. Galaxy is a team that has a lot of history, a lot of good players that come from Europe go to L.A.. They’ve been really successful in the past, and even the last few years. They are always a really good team that always puts up results within the season.

“All of us are ready for the challenge, we know it is going to be a hard game. But we are going into that game knowing that we have the fans behind us and we’re on national T.V.. It’s going to be a big game and we are ready and pumped for it.”

This upcoming home opener means so much to the entirety of the team, but it’s extra special for Lindsey as a Charlotte native who was born and raised in the city.

“I’m from here and knowing my parents will be in the stands and having friends and family from around the city that I grew up with that will also be at the game... It’s going to be really surreal moment.

“That first walkout before the game starts, I’m sure is going to be very loud, and it’s going to be one of the most memorable moments of my lifetime... Over 70,000 people are going to be behind us the entire match, we are all just so excited to have that fanbase behind us.”

“It’s something that I’ve been working so hard and long for. I grew up watching games in Bank of America Stadium and now that I’m actually playing in it, I feel it’s my time to go out there and do my thing.”
