HomegrownCharlotte FC acquired Canadian defender Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty on loan from CF Montréal on April 23. Marshall-Rutty's loan with The Crown lasts through the 2025 MLS season.
The defender joined CLTFC having amassed 88 appearances in MLS and 102 professional appearances overall with Canadian sides CF Montréal and his original club, Toronto FC, where he signed a Homegrown contract as a 15-year-old in 2020. He made his professional debut against the Philadelphia Union on October 25, 2020, becoming the youngest player in Toronto FC history to debut at 16 years, four months and nine days old.
On the international stage, Mashall-Rutty earned five caps with Canada’s U-15 team in 2019, scoring one goal. He also became the youngest player to be called up to the Canada’s senior national team in January 2021 at the age of 16, surpassing Alphonso Davies’ mark by five days.
