Matthews, NC (Sunday, July 23, 2023) - Crown Legacy FC pulls out a 4-3 victory over New York City FC II after multiple weather delays.
Just before the match was scheduled to kickoff, lightning touched down in the area, causing the two clubs to retreat to their locker rooms.
After a two-hour delay, the match was underway and CLFC immediately went on the front foot with defender Nick Scardina scoring in the 10th minute. Crown Legacy FC and NYCFCII had to leave the pitch again five minutes later for about three hours due to inclement weather in the area.
When the match was able to resume, Crown Legacy FC picked up right where it left off with forward Patrick Agyemang netting a brace in just 16 minutes. Forward Brandon Cambridge also found the back of the net in the second half and goalkeeper Isaac Walker saved a penalty kick to secure all three points at the Sportsplex.
